First Annual Huron County Natural Health Summit

WHYME hosted its first annual Huron County Natural Health Summit at the Norwalk Eagles on Saturday, October 21, 2023. Our debut educational event presented a lineup of local speakers sharing simple tips and strategies to prevent critical diseases through healthy living.

Our speakers included:

  • Shannon Ditz, a Certified Square Foot Gardening Instructor and Chapter President of the Huron County Ladies Homestead Gathering, taught us how to grow fresh, healthy produce using an easy gardening method.
  • Joseph Smith, a wellness consultant with the Grassroots Health Initiative, taught us how to influence proper natural digestion.
  • Eli Bash, MS, a clinical herbalist who owns Eli’s Naturals Holistic Health and Herbal Wellness, explained herbal remedies for wellness.
  • Ashley Morrow, community engagement and resource manager at the Huron County Board of Mental Health and Addiction Services, explained tips and strategies to manage daily stress.
  • Tina Marie, owner of Love Guides Me Roaching, Reiki and Massage, talked about mindset and the power it holds over your stress level and health.
  • “PT Patty” Abrigo-Naidenoff, a physical therapist and certified cancer rehab clinician who owns Integrated Therapeutic Healing, explained how exercise can prevent chronic illness.
  • Justin Bilyj, an independent insurance broker who owns Buckeye Senior Benefits, explained the benefits of owning a cancer insurance policy.

We educated 74 attendees about healthy living, approaches to wellness, and tips for reducing disease risks. Of these attendees, 99% of those surveyed said they would attend another event in the future.

Supporting the body’s natural functions can sharply decrease the chances of cancer.

The Norwalk Eagles graciously donated their venue for the summit and provided a deliciously healthy dinner buffet featuring organic grilled chicken topped with blistered tomatoes and lemons, cold smoked organic salmon, a rainbow of fresh fruits and veggies, hummus and spinach avocado dip, and mixed greens salad with strawberry, red onion, pine nuts and sunflower seeds. Yum!

Our first annual Huron County Natural Health Summit raised approximately $3,800 to support our mission of reducing the risk of breast cancer in our community through education and support.

Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, and supported us to make this event a success!
